Managing Transitions – making change work
This one day workshop has been designed for Managers and Leaders facing significant organisational change. It will address the human aspects of change and help those attending to support staff through the challenges of transition, maximising the potential and creativity of staff to manage change successfully.
Objectives and learning outcomes
- Understand the critical difference between managing change and facilitating transition
- Assess the effectiveness of a current change plan
- Be able to develop an action plan to help people to let go of the old way of doing things, and make clear endings
The workshop will help you to:
- Analyse the difference between managing change and facilitating transition using different models
- Identify how the change process affects staff and ways to overcome resistance
- Understand where people are in the transition process and develop steps for helping people to move into a new phase
- Develop a transition action plan to support staff and themselves through transition

Programme presenters:
Jenny Mellor – Jenny is an experienced clinician and operational manager having worked in the NHS for over 30 year. She has extensive experience in managing and supporting staff through times of change. Jenny has particular skills and expertise in professional development, project management and clinical effectiveness.
Sue Walters - Sue Walters is an experienced facilitator in transition management and change. She is a coach and mentor working with Senior Managers dealing with complex organisational issues. Sue has worked in senior positions in the NHS including Head of Organisational Development and Workforce. Sue brings a deep knowledge of NHS Policy and its impact on people and still has a sense of humour! She is passionate about enabling leaders to understand their roles and responsibility in leading and empowering staff.
Who should attend:
This programme has been developed for Managers and leaders who are responsible for implementing and facilitating change within their organization and who wish to gain the skills necessary for leading and supporting their teams through successful transition.

People with responsibility for supporting/and or managing teams or who will have in the very near future
People with responsibility for facilitating and implementing change within organisations
People who want to understand more about their own reactions to change
